Wizarding Weekend Flash Fiction Writing Contest Rules
Sponsored by the Community Arts Partnership and Flash Fiction Online
Flash fiction is fictional work of extreme brevity that still offers character and plot development within 1,000 words or less. All the elements of a traditional self-contained short story, including a beginning, a middle, and an end, even if some aspects may be implied are expected. Flash Fiction is NOT an extract or vignette from a longer story and should never end with the words To Be Continued – it has to be a story and it has to have a definite ending.
All submissions must utilize the theme(s) of magic, science fiction and/or fantasy. Be bold, make it fresh and have fun!
All entrants must be 18 years or over by September 1, 2018. Submissions must be in English and original works of the author (NO FAN FICTION).
$500 for first place, $250 for second, $125 for third. First place entry will be printed in our festival Magical Passports!
