Welcome to GorgeKeep School of Magic
Since 2016, GorgeKeep School of Magic has strived to teach the principles of collaboration, creativity and community through the magical arts. This is directly reflected in the school’s motto:
Partum Et Vires Per Civitatem – “Strength Through a Creative Community”.
Our school’s original Guardians – Koltarn, Flitspark, Lilican, and Tathom – extend a warm welcome to the new fifth guardian, Aradessa. All the Guardians are inspired by New York State flora and fauna and guide the lessons each student receives.
GORGEKEEP QUARDIAN QUEST & SCROLL CEREMONY
All students of magic are welcome to learn and demonstrate their magical abilities via the annual GorgeKeep Guardian Quest held this year during the festival days of October 26 and 27, 2019.
The Quest begins at the Scroll Ceremony where each student must present their personal magical talisman to the Wall of Scrolls. Once your talisman has been considered by the guardians, you will receive your talisman back along with a scroll. This scroll contains the quests and activities that are for you to participate in throughout the festival.
This year’s quest tasks are:
- Discovering Spells and Enchantments (Flitspark)
- Collective Web Weaving (Tathom)
- The Five Pillars of GorgeKeep (Aradessa)
- Potion Ingredient Identification (Koltarn)
- Bubble Wand Making (Lilican)
There is no fee to participate in the Quest or to be a student of GorgeKeep. Students who wish to receive information throughout the year may submit their contact information at the Official Wizarding Weekend Booth located at the center of the Ithaca Commons. Ideal age for questers is 5 and up but younger questers may participate with the assistance of older siblings, parents, friends and extended family.
Be sure to visit the New Roots Charter School to experience the GorgeKeep School of Magic through the augmented reality app created by VisionLabs360. This amazing app creates a portal that transports you into the school so that you may interact with the guardians. Students will need to download the app to their own smartphone and have headphones to fully enjoy the experience.
Additional magical classes are offered at the GorgeKeep Library (inside the Tompkins County Public Library). These are also free of charge but have limited space. Consult the schedule of events for details and timings.
